Pinon Hills - New Playground Equipment and Basketball Court

(Best Syndication) Representative for San Bernardino County Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt, Michael Orme, spoke at the Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) Meeting in Pinon Hills on October 4th 2007. He handed out some press releases concerning the supervisor's gang intervention program and the county's crackdown on sex offender violators.

Orme handed out some brochures for resources and referrals. "Basically it is like a small phone book," Orme said. "It gives you the phone numbers for different county agencies." Then the representative went on to talk about the plans for a new playground at the Pinon Hills Park on Mountain Road, just north of Highway 138.

The county of San Bernardino has provided some funds for playground equipment. Orme presented a map / diagram of the proposed basketball court. "We have been working on it for a while and it is about ready to go out for bid," Orme said.




The diagram included the playground equipment, which the MAC board is reviewing at this time. One grant is for the basketball court and the other is for the playground area. The county has been working with the Pinon Hills Chamber of Commerce on the project.

For water conservation reasons, this will be a "grassless" park, according to Orme. While inspecting the map, Orme said "Looking at the colored area, potentially it is a rubber type setting or natural chopped-up wood."

The play equipment is bunched together because you a 25 foot "fall" radius. This is a cushioned area just in case a kid falls down. So the equipment is spaced closer together to save money.
