Okay, we're finally starting into some real videos. Unfortunately, the only way I have to record is off-screen, but that will give me a nice little border to put commentary in. :)
This is a "Let's Play!" run of MegaMan 9. Despite the fact that this particular stage is a "Perfect Run" (ie. no damage), the entire game will certainly not follow the same pattern. I'm out of practice with the game as-is, and there are certain stages that I've ALWAYS had trouble getting through without taking damage (notably Jewel Man).
Tornado Man's stage is an interesting one in that there are essentially 2 states that you can be in: "dead" or "not dead." Barring Tornado Man himself, most of the stage has very few enemies that pose a threat, so if you're having trouble, it's likely with the pits and the spikes. This is not a stage that you should try speeding through - patience is the key. Just take your time and don't try and make a jump that looks iffy.
Tornado Man himself is probably one of the harder Robot Masters in MegaMan 9. There are two ways you can try taking him on: You can try and keep him positioned properly such that his attacks are less dangerous, or you can learn to weave through his attacks regardless of where he is. Positioning him perfectly is often very difficult or blind luck, so it's probably the safer bet to try and spend a few lives learning to weave through his 2 different tornado patterns.
When he's getting ready to descend, the safest place to be is generally right below him. If you're on the opposite side of the screen, he will often travel in an arc that does not allow you to jump over him OR run underneath him, so being close negates that possibility.
INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE:
This video is also a call to all MegaMan 9 players to take on the INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE. There are three different difficulties to the challenge, and you are free to undertake whichever you feel comfortable with. Regardless of which difficulty you take, you will need a save with no items, no bosses defeated, and at least 20 bolts. The easiest ways to do this would be to use a Clear Game file, or just go to Splash Woman's stage, grab the first large bolt, die, and then save. Note: this challenge is not for bragging rights or to prove your superiority. It's just for fun! Even dying on the first stage is okay!
Easy INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE aka THE INVINCIBLE HELMET:
Without purchasing any items, in one run, try and get through as much of the game (in any Boss order you choose) as you can without dying. Dying constitutes the end of your INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE. If you have the means to do so, record your run, and post the first part as a response!
Medium INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE:
Purchase the "Haircut" item from the shop, and no other items. In one run, try and get through as much of the game (in any Boss order you choose) as you can without dying. Dying constitutes the end of your INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE. If you have the means to do so, record your run and post the first part as a response!
Expert INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE aka THE UNTOUCHABLE HAIR:
Purchase the "Haircut" item from the shop, and no other items. In one run, try and get through as much of the game (in any Boss order you choose) as you can without taking any damage. Getting hit constitutes the end of your INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE. If you have the means to do so, record your run and post the first part as a response!
--note--
This video is not actually an INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE, as it took me about 4 runs to get through Tornado Man's stage. This run is a "warmup" run since I am so out of practice. Once this run concludes, I too will undertake the INVINCIBLE HAIR CHALLENGE. :)
If u get one hit against you, you are dead?
