Player-controlled ships in JGE are limited to fighters, shuttles, and transports; the large capital ships you see in the trailer are AI-controlled.
They're aiming for a release somewhere around the middle of the year.

Yeah, it's looking like it'll be an early-'09 release. It's currently in Alpha-stage. Closed Beta testing should begin within a couple of months, followed by open Beta sometime after that.
