Union Pacific Turbines of the Wasatch
UP 8500s, the world's most powerful gas turbines, were all but gone by 1969, but their memory lives on in railroading lore and in this wonderful video. You'll see the very thunder of these massive steel Goliaths as they pull heavy tonnage out of the Salt Lake Basin. There's never-ending action in this exhilarating documentary of turbine power on the Union Pacific Railroad!

Pardon my French, but... FUCKING HELL! I've been wanting to see and especially hear these monsters for ages, and now that I finally find a video about them, someone has decided to add music, so I won't be able to hear the engines. Aaggghhh!

The 8500 along with the 6900 nothing but junk, junk and more junk. If this power was on the road today the UP would be broke!! Thats if they could keep them off the ground.....
