Few ideas to stop gun crime in the UK:

1.stop people learning about guns responsibily

2.make sure criminals have a monopoly of power by banning the law abiding from having weapons to defend themselves.

3. Steadily reduce the prison sentences that violent criminals serve.

No wait, we tried that.

1908 no gun controls in the UK, no gun crime. 2008 strictest gun control of any democracy and spiralling violence.

Time for honest debate, not more stigmatising of an inanimate object.

@brucerobert I just read your comment from three years ago and the thing that struck me is how you managed to maintain your composure amongst the inane blather as you presented your unassailable argument. Looking at the other comments it was clear that the other people were speaking from an irrational, emotion based perspective, just like the deceptive advert being commented on. I would find it interesting to see your take on the recent events in London, since this is certainly related.

The political elite wants all law-abiding citizens to be slaughtered like helpless sheep. If every shopkeeper in London had a 12-gauge pump shotgun, this riot would never have started, or at least would have ended quickly.

It's now summer of 2011. Riots, looting, muggings, widespread chaos in the streets. Police in riot gear 24/7. Buildings burning, people hiding behind closed and locked doors. It is not safe to walk down the street at anytime. Old people being beating to almost death. Children can play the parks. People being robbed in broad daylight and filmed. Gray and dismal everyday life. This is what gun control has brought and it's only going to get worst. Way to go assholes.

Over 9000 "firearm offenses" in England....even though they have a ban on handguns. That ban must really work!

I'd just like to know what a "firearm offense" consists of. It could include shooting people with guns, owning guns, carrying guns, or any number of non violent things. It's like saying that 30,000 people a year are killed with guns (in the US) and using that number to ban guns. If it was 30,000 evil people shot in self defense, that's a GOOD thing, not bad.
