Definitely favorite UY, probably favorite anime movie of all time. Imaginative, eerie, unique and interesting. My cheap VHS copy is showing its age... anyone know where I could buy on DVD?

There were 4 more movies made after this, 3 were great, 1 was terrible, but NONE of them could EVER top Beautiful Dreamer! :D

First anime I ever saw still one of my favorites.

I'm really sad I missed this when I was younger. I know it ran on Scifi back in the early nineties, and mamoru Oshii is one of my favorite film-makers, but I missed this one even though I saw Vampire Hunter D, Akira and remember Robot Carnival faintly. I just ordered the first one, but this one looks even better (guess the DVD is out of print though). I'll have to try hard to find this and Roujin Z

Hahahah. I did the same too. I remember everything they showed in sci-fi. Demon city shinjuku, beautiful dreamer, vampire hunter D, tenchi muyo in love, A-ko ( all 3 versions of it) Zeram-Iriea (i think its spelled like that) Record of the lotus war, galaxy express 999, Akira.....wow...sci fi channel actually had the best, cream of the crap in anime feature films. Oh, and Robot carnival (my personal favorite) Its like those are the essentials of anime, hahaha

This was my favorite. It's what got me interested in both anime, and urusei yatsura. Would rather watch this over inu-yasha any day.
