Actor Nandita Das speaks on the Shiney Ahuja case

Its Shiney Shiney everywhere, yes we are talking about the well-known face of the Bollywood industry Shiney Ahuja. This North-Indian actor had been charged of raping his 18 yr old maid servant on Sunday afternoon. He was arrested by the police on Monday morning and is heard of being in police custody till 18th june, 09.

Zoom had a short and candid talk with the Bhawandar actress Nandita Das about the situation. Nandita is the protagonist in the movie and has played the role of married woman in a small village in Rajasthan, who goes around the village raising awareness, and incurs the wrath of the village elders, mostly members of the Gujjar family. When she persists with her efforts of creating awareness, five of the men in their anger severely beat-up her husband and gang-rape her.

Having experienced something like rape in her movie, we tried getting Nanditas view on the current Shiney Ahuja scene. To which se said that rape is a heinous act and its not just about sexual assault but its a whole power game. She compared the situation to her movie and said that even in her movie when the protagonist who is a woman from lower class is being gang raped by men belonging to upper class in the fit of revenge or to teach her a lesson.
