The NOAA-N Prime satellite is slated for launch by NASA on February 4th, 2009. Operated by NOAA, N Prime will be the last in the Television Infrared Observation Satellite Series (TIROS) that have been observing Earth’s weather and environment for nearly 50 years. N Prime’s main role will be to provide continuity of service until the launch of the next generation, highly advanced National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS).
