I first saw this in high school science class. This short flick doesn't do it justice, of course. I'm interested in finding some to show my daughter. Just burning my wife's bottle of magnesium capsules probably won't have the same effect (and she'll be ticked off at me)
so long as you're careful and don't look directly at the flame for too long, you should be fine - magnesium isn't inherently dangerous, but you won't be able to put it out, it will have to burn down to the end, so use something like this person did to hold onto it.
@niknikvids yea this is real we did this in my chemistry class

is this real life?

The flame is very intense, do not look at it directly for more than a few seconds. For safety wear Ultraviolet Blocking UV Goggles.

yup, if you look at it for 5 secs or more, you WILL go blind ~ because its a immensely strong exothermic reaction, releasing heat and light energy

Thx for the advice. btw my friend told me if great impact and friction meets a tiny portion of magnesium it will combust? is that really true?
