This series of videos shows my new toy in action: a BOSS ME-70 multieffects pedal.

There are many videos around showing what this device can do in the hands of an accomplished musician (look for the ones with Rob Marcello or Johnny DeMarco: they are devastatingly good). But I wanted to remove the extra factors (great player, great guitar, great amp, a professional recording crew) and just show how the pedal works and what kind of sounds it can make.

This first video shows:
- The built in tuner;
- A few of the 5 preamp models. I played the same chord sequence with all the amps, trying to show how different they sound and how they change when turning up the gain;
- The compressor and overdrive "stompboxes". In manual mode the BOSS ME-70 works like a amp simulator and a chain of 5 separate stompboxes. Each of them can be set up as a different effect and can be turned on and off individually. In the next parts I'll show a few of them.

  • do u get the Cakewalk SONAR 8.5 LE to connect it to ur pc m8?

  • @bbrianmulhollandd No. This pedal doesn't have a USB port at all.

  • I cant notice any difference on the compressor really. so after the few times triying it,i havent done anything with it. dont even know what it could be used for even.

  • @97warlock Try this: set a relatively clean sound and strum a nice open G chord. Then turn on the compressor and the EZ Tone button too - that will select a good preset config for the effect. Now strum again the chord: can't you hear a difference? It should sustain much longer.

    Compressor is essential for some kinds of sound, for example Gilmour's tone in the Comfortably Numb solos. Lots of compression, hit a note, bend up, apply vibrato -> joy! ;) I hope this helps. Have fun.

  • can u put a singel boss pedal through it

  • @xPicturePerfectBandx I really don't know. I bought a digital multi-effects pedal so I wouldn't have to buy single pedals... Just out of curiosity: what BOSS pedal would you use that isn't already on the ME-70? Have fun.

  • Well I'm picking mine up next week along with the RC- 30.

  • @97warlock I've noticed the Amp sim on the Boss is not that great especially running through a Roland Cube (which the guy at the store suggested), so I may bring back the cube and get a different amp however I otherwise love the device! I don't know I may play around with the settings some more.The wah effect is REALLY good and so is the compressor!

  • @skione nah, No effects on the amp itself. Only the distortion on the amp,but enourmous hiss.....and as an update,since i typed all that up above.......I have been running the amp clean & Although i dont get the tone I want out of the boss me70,its close but a bit tinty ....I have NO hiss at high volume & high gain running the amp clean. Worthwhile trade.

  • @97warlock Sounds like you are using double effects, if you are using the amp sims you should only use the clean setting on the pedal and vice versa for the amp

  • Thanks for the post dude! I just got one and was browsing videos to look for how to's

  • @jeremyjwwt Yes you can record direct from the ME-70, it functions as a direct box bringing your single to line level.
