  • I love to tell people I am from Wapakoneta. It makes their heads spin. However when I was living in DC, one guy's response was "it is Wapak for the locals." He was from Vandalia.

  • I believe the Ritters have the correct pronunciation. Wapakoneeeeeta - with the long "e" sound. We always say this since the legend says the Chief's wife was Koneta, pronounced with long "e" sound. However, I am sure the depart will live into the next generation. Great video.

  • I was born in Lima and moved to Texas when I was 4, and all I ever heard it called was Wapak. We drove up to visit a few years ago and I was like Wapakoneta?? I never knew lol
