Darillyn Patterson sings her originally written song for the year of the priest.

Lyrics: FOREVERMORE A PRIEST

Think back to when the Lord called you to be a priest for Him.
Perhaps you waited for awhile before you would "give in".

You might have thought, "This can't be true. I don't have what it takes.
I'm just a sinful, selfish man. There must be some mistake."

Some time went by -- a year or two, or maybe even more.
But then the call became so strong -- one you could not ignore.

Now that you have become a priest, a shepherd of God's flock,
souls are entrusted to your care -- as Peter, who was the "rock".

You realize how great it is -- this life of sacrifice.
God grants the graces that you need for this, your priestly life.

How truly glorious it is to be an "other Christ".
Without the priests the Church would die. You're keeping it alive.

Without the priest we would not have the Holy Eucharist.
It is the priest alone who can absolve us of our sins.

Salvation of souls must always be a priest's priority.
God uses you to help us be with Him for all eternity.

Stay close in prayer with Christ, our Lord, and Blessed Mother, too.
Trust them to keep you safe from harm. Satan is hunting you.

Be perseverant as you try to do what God requests.
Be faithful to Him in all you do, and you'll be truly blessed.

I ask all people of good will to daily pray for you
and offer up some sacrifice as you so often do.

Praise God for making you a priest. Yes, praise His holy name!
You are a priest forevermore, and that you will remain.

AMEN!

  • Thank you, Brinanara.

Unfortunately, the sound quality of this video is not the best. The organist and videographer were kind enough to offer their services free of charge, so I am grateful for that.

Are you able to hear all the words clearly? There are 12 verses, in honor of the 12 Apostles, who were the first priests. All the lyrics were written in front of the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance at the Mother of God Monastery (of cloistered Dominican nuns).

  • Beautiful!! God bless you!
