Whooping cough. It's a bacterial infection that's risen to epidemic levels in some parts of the U.S. In adults, the symptoms can be mild, but if the infection is spread to a baby who hasn't yet received a full course of vaccinations, whooping cough can be very serious. Here's more on how to handle this disease.

  • Had this when I was 3, left me with permanent lung scarring.

Now whenever I get a respiratory infection I need to use an inhaler to keep my airways open :(

  • I had this. I'm on my 4th week... Was on steroids for days for inflammation of the throat and still on antibiotics. Also took anti-allergy pill (Claritin then a generic form of Zyrtec which worked better for me). For sure though, the honey + warm water + lemon helped. Lots of fruits and water. And for the first time in my life, I had to use an inhaler. Not good feeling really. But at least I'm on the mend. ;) GO SEE THE DOCTOR if you suspect you or your child has it!
