Since there was certainly no shortage of it growing there I harvested a passle of the seed heads and am now enjoying the rattlesnake grass and it rattling in my own yard! We live in a very hot central valley area, in the flatlands of CA.

I stopped along the road to take a smoke break last summer in Humboldt County CA. Along the roadside was this wonderful grass, with the seed heads 'rattling' in the breeze! Although I doubt anyone seeded this, cus I'm not sure if it is native to CA or not it sure was fun to listen to,en masse, as it was at this spot along the wayside.
