I initially made a video regarding this using only text so seeing as I feel strongly about this topic I decided to add another version, this time with me discussing it in person. While I'm still getting used to talking on camera, my text version is a bit more coherent :) This the story of the Australian boy that fought back his bully resorting to a slam dunk maneuver, worthy of a professional wrestler and captured the hearts of the world.
Casey, a Sydney teenage boy snapped into a retaliatory physical response while being repeatedly antagonised by a kid who's friends stood on the side while filming and encouraging the encounter.
Clearly the objective of this as far as the group of boys were concerned, was to publicly humiliate the bigger boy who apparently until now, has had a reputation of being an easy target that would never stand up for himself. The fact that this episode was captured on video not only indemnifies Casey as acting in self defence but also serves to provide a fairly unique insight into such situations. Let's be frank, both boys were lucky as this could have ended a lot worse.
However this type of a situation is more common than many people would like to believe and it reflects problems at a lot deeper level then warranted by the initial reactions of gratifications for the boy being bullied, the horror of the force with which the other boy was thrown, followed by the relief once we found out that all he suffered was a fractured leg.
The physical side of this incident aside, we really should try and understand the psychological aftermath as well as the initial forces that drove all the boys concerned to this point. It seems the reason why this has become such a hot online topic with Casey drawing so much support is that there are a lot of people that have at different stages of their lives, found themselves in similar situations in which they might, or might have not, stood up to their aggressors.
It seems the reason why this is a hot topic with Casey drawing so much support is that there are lots other people whom at different times in their lives, found themselves, in similar situations in which they did, or did not, stood up to their aggressors. I am not limiting this to school yard bullying either, including anything from home, work, sports etc. Personally I've been involved twice in such altercations with other boys as a child, once when I was six and the second time when I was thirteen.
Both times I suffered a brain freeze, retaliating without any thought of consequence, leaving my aggressors bruised and shaken, which is also why I empathise with Casey. You can see after he threw the other kid down on the ground, he was heaving profusely, adrenaline surging madly through his entire body, exactly as I've felt. I don't regret either of those times as both were a culmination of persistent public humiliation and intimidation over an extended period of time, accompanied by physical aggression.
Had I not stood up to those bullies I dare say my life would have been very different and I'm positive I would have had a lot lower sense of self esteem and little or no confidence. This does not mean that I condone violence as a solution, but the fact remains that we can all be pushed so far that at times we feel like we have no choice but to react. Of course a better solution would have been to give Casey a sense of self worth beforehand and the ability to stand up for himself verbally.
The behaviour of the attacker and his friends was most likely a reflection of the lack of unconditional love, support and lack of quality time, which those kids suffer at home. Arrogance is nothing more but yet another manifestation of overcompensation for a sense of personal and emotional grief due to lack of love, the reasons for which almost always start at home. Dictators like Hitler don't get born, they get created....
The following is the original clip of the incident with a small touch of a creative license where I added the hulk smash audio :) Enjoy but remember, teach your kids how to think, not what to think and love them no matter what!

I would never have pegged you as an atheist, such a shame. Hope you can cognitively overcome that problem at some point in your life. Good video though.

@ReppinTheKing23 haha you make it sound like a mental disease, keep in mind that we are all born atheists and non belivers and that in all cases our beliefs are passed down from my parents and while many do keep those beliefs, others discard them, preferring to search out for answers by themselves. Thanks anyway :)
