Tools required for Series 100 surgery:
- 5/8" Socket Wrench
- 9/16" Wrench
- 7/16" Wrench
- Straight Screwdriver
- 1/8" Alan Wrench
- *Small block of wood

  • @dirtymindedx rubber mallard is a good way to go if you have an old rusty one that is fused together. Usually they are not stuck to the point where you need that much force. Glad you liked the video and glad we could help. Take care!

  • Quick question... My baseboard system recently became airbound, and after purging/repressurizing it, I was excited to feel the water circulating through the pipes once again-- until I saw water coming up & out of the bearing oil trap door(from appx 10:00 of this video). Any thoughts on what could have gone wrong? I'd like to fix this myself, but I'm not exactly sure what needs fixing. Thanks!!

  • @StankyWarez per our phone conversation, due to the amount of water that is coming in to the bearing cavity, I suggested that you replace the entire bearing assembly. I also recommended that you keep the old bearing assembly as a spare. Once you have the defective bearing assembly off you can inspect and possibly repair it.

  • @enlightened it would be a good idea to order the motor mounts too. Often the coupler goes bad because the motor mounts are sagging - they are "out of round". In your case though, you may be in luck. The coupler may have gone bad because of the lack of lubrication. You could go one of two ways: 1) replace the coupler cross your fingers. 2) replace both the coupler and motor mounts. If you choose to replace just the coupler, you may be ordering another yet coupler along with motor mounts.

  • @statesupply -- "rubber mallard is a good way to go" A mallard ? really ? why would you want to use a male duck for this? Wouldn't it be better to use a rubber MALLET ? I think you could get a little more oomph out of that... rubber ducks belong in the bathtub! Thanks for the great tutorials Tom!

  • Wow this was a great tutorial. I just replaced my baring assembly I would mention you will probably need a rubber mallard to knock loose the old bearing assembly mine was a b***** to get off. Other than that this tutorial was right on the money saved me over 300 bux to just do it myself. Thanks again.

  • @enlightened58 if the mounts do indeed need to be replaced can I find them somewhere local where I live...I'll check the web probably my best answer on that eh...anyway thanks tom for your great video and this work horse pump.....Tom

  • Tom I have this series pump by B&G awesome pump. But last week the coupler broke rattled the pipes so I knew what was possibly the problem checked and yup the coupler. I ordered a new coupler from you guy's which arrives Mon but somewhere I read about not to install a new coupler without replacing the motor mounts so I have two questions. One I never remembered to oil the unit could it just be lack of lube and can I replace the coupler if the mounts look ok and two if the mounts do cont.
