Some tests with different Evans bass drum heads on a 22" Tama Starclassic Birch. Recordings of the different muffling on the EMAD batter and EMAD resonant. Some are pretty close but you can hear a clear difference with and without a hole.

  • I see in no 4 EMAD with thick muffle and stock head (no hole) you have apicture with a dampener inside the drum.

Can you please confirm there is a dampener inside when the audio was taken?

  • @manpoo100 Yep, there is an Evans pillow in the drum during the test.

  • What combination would you recommend on a Ludwig accent zep series kit 26 inch bass? Thanks.

  • @xSugarDaddy420 Depends on the sound you are after. It is a big drum so you may want a bit of damping to control the boom.
