Seattle here, flew down last spring just to see it.

Unless you know somebody you can only get about 6 miles up to it on the causeway.

It was still totally worth it but it's not as loud at that distance like it is in these videos.

It still took my breath away.

It's because this planet is filled with people who have their head in the sand. You cannot say for sure. Look how far we've come in one century, fast forward another century I reckon we would have had people walk on Mars. Another couple of centuries... maybe we could have developed a self sustaining Bio-sphere capable for supporting life for as long as it needs. Maybe it would be difficult to do, but not impossible.
