last time i checked,only oscillating items i.e. waves, could have resonance, and last time i checked, swings are not waves. (also, this is called aeroelastic flutter.)

It has nothing to do with vortex theories. They put an inflatable dome over it and did wind tests. The middle swing was measured and was found to have a bit more surface area to catch the wind easier.
