I got this game a couple of days ago, and I'm wondering how you get the Lead stages, all I get are the Behind ones. Perhaps I haven't gotten far enough, but are they unlockable or something?

I don't exactly remember how but they indeed are unlockable. Once you have them unlocked, you can choose lead or behind for each of 3 stages everytime you play.
