Few expeditions up Mount Everest would succeed without the help of the Sherpas. But their contribution has been largely overlooked.
Most Sherpas spend four months every year away from their families assisting expeditions. "Europeans don't want to show the help they get from us. They want to pretend they did it all by themselves," complains one. Despite 80 years helping foreigners scale Everest, they still don't understand the lure of climbing. "This is our work but they have to spend a lot of money to climb the mountain. It's crazy."

  • hard working, sincere, honest.. amazing people

  • That is sooooo true about american and english films, non white men never ever get credit for anything while the other is hyped beyond belief (well, beyond belief of intelligent people).

Not much different then the relationship between whites and packers in Africa.

  • One of my dreams is to climb the Mount Everest.. One day... one day I will return to Nepal and become one with the mountains :)

  • what a shame , give credit due to those that so deserve it , Well Sherpas thanks to face book we know what you do , thank to the BBC, them some

  • @2010Tibetan wtf bro. sherpas ancestors were from tibet. they arent tibetans if they were they wud say they were tibetans not sherpas. and yeah they are a caste from nepal. caste means ethnicity in nepal just like newar, khas, rai, limbu, gurung, thakali, magar, lepcha, bhutia, tharu and other castes. anyways i think tibetans and nepalese are brothers so ure arguement is irrelevant.

  • I appreciate this video, I am also Sherpa, I have been to lots of expedition including 8 everest summit, 2 lhoste summit, 3 ama dablam summit, pumori camp3, and lots of other mountains. Usually sherpa faces lots of problem in mountain after my experience. They make everything ready for the foreigner to climb but there is no respect from them but some does. There is problem even with the salary and different things. I spend my life climbing mountains but there is no any respect .

  • smosh brought me here...

  • oh man I want to go hang out in a tent in the himalayas. that would be bangin

  • Great flim.. so proud to call this my birthplace and sherpas, my people.

  • Sherpas - the unsung heros of the mountains
