FYI - Registration actually means consenting to abandonment of your weapon to the STATE or GOVT. Just like registering your vehicle (which also is voluntary), which basically signs it over to the DOT in your STATE.
Ask the gun stores in border states about gun registration right now. When they have to report every semi auto purchase to the ATF with a new form, then come back and tell me Obama is not on the road to confiscation. Registration ALWAYS leads to confiscation.I agree prices are artificially high because he was never going to outwardly introduce a new AWB, but that doesn't mean he won't try to nickel and dime our rights away. Are we really trying to keep Al Qaida from getting CMP Garands?
@frankgon4 trust me...I love and respect classic guns as much as anyone. my point here has been that I am tired of some misinformed people grasping at straws and pepetuating this foolish "gun-grab" myth. The ONLY gun grab I recall was during Katrina (GW's watch) Obama must be accountable for any/all mistakes he makes with the economy...however,this "Obama gonna git our guns" BS is a lie so far. I blame NRA lies and others for the massive ammo price spikes recently.
@DeadFishFactory That is not why he is not allowing them in the country. Obama originally allowed the sale and then changed his mind. "A State Department spokesman said the administration's decision was based on concerns that the guns could fall into the wrong hands." . The point is Americans can get better more advanced rifles. These have historical value. I guess he thinks it would be better to sell them to foreign countries ?
@craigdamage You need to understand the "why" yourself before you can say it is of minor concern. The concept is not that better and more advanced guns are available. It is that these are considered a collector's item by many. You can apply this concept to old cowboy guns or even ancient chess sets. Cowboy guns and chess sets are readily available, but many would like to own an original item. There is much historical value.
