This is an old (mid-20s) Gibson Plectrum Banjo Junior that I've converted to a 5-string. I've got all the strings running from the nut to the bridge which makes it way easy to pop a capo on and play away... as I'm doing here, in B.

I'm super psyched about the tone of this 'jo -- a real sweetie as well as a great player. I'm just improvising a bit to show it off. :)

FYI -- brand new album (rel. Dec 16th) is available for free download at the above link.

  • This Gibson is really classy. I love the sound, armrest, and the peghead. I also like the 10 1/2" rim. It looks far more natural in the ol' lap.

  • @Quack4Zac Yep, I really like the old Junior models -- they're bare bones but have it where it counts, in a similar way to the Kalamazoo models of the 30s... just plain good instruments.

  • man that one's got a sweet sound!

  • @MuchoSuavo I wholeheartedly agree...! I'm really liking the sustain on it a lot.
