Rtree, FWD does have its limitations in traction on a launch. But AWD suffers from weight, and drive train effiency loss. Power to weight, speed, gas mileage is compromised for better traction and handling. If I wanted more traction from a FWD I just stiffen the suspension in the rear. On a roll the FWD car is going to be faster. The AWD car has the handling.
Lurpy, The supposed, "real cars" you speak of are nothing more then a CHEAP truck motor powered stand in to their TRUE and REAL RACE MOTOR counterpart.
You got a big Truck engine in a car, and you want to brag about it? Kick up the Redline a bit and play RACE CAR with a REAL RACE CAR's Engine. Not a Type R then its not a tight car.
Big displacement and Big torque is crap for a light weight car. "Torque is the enemy." Top end power is the key for this platform. Front wheel drive was designed for better traction and control for the rain, ice, and snow, improved drivetrain effiency, gas mileage, and lighter weight. Less weight, and higher drivetrain effiency means faster on the track. Popping a wheely is the most useless thing you can do in a car. Lets all just sit back a moment and reflect on todays lessons shall we.
