This is category 3/4 criterium race footage from the Downtown South Bend Subaru Classic on Sunday June 26th 2011. Video was shot using GoPro HD Hero cameras recording at 60fps.
Love the video. As alex said awesome wheels. So i have a question for ya, i am thinking about buying the caad 10 and i was wondering if it performs well? Do you recommend this bike?
@Mattar2345 The CAAD 10 has been awesome for me. It feels stiff and responsive for sprints (not that I have much sprinting power... I need all the help I can get) yet compliant for a smooth ride when going long distances. I am more of a long distance guy so this has been an outstanding bike because it is good for both long distance and speed. As a team we talked about getting aero frames and went with the Aluminum CAAD 10 for durability in road races. It turned out to be a great choice.
@atkimw Thanks alot! I just ordered it and it should get here wednesday. Then on saterday i will hopefully do my first race. Do you know how well this bike would do in a time trial? sorry for all the questions.
@Mattar2345 Since this is not an aero frame it is not well suited for a traditional time trial. It will be efficient as far as power transfer but you will loose a lot of advantage simply because of the road bike design. Aero bars and a TT helmet might give you a good portion of the disadvantage back. A lot of shops will rent aero equipment (helmet, wheels, bars, etc) if you want to test the water.
Thanks Alex, it was a hot/sunny/windy race day. The field did not seem to have it that day. One of the Notre Dame/ProForm riders bridged over to the two man break. The three of them stayed away the entire race. I inserted a few clips from the lead car but the camera was zoomed out too much to get any detail.
