Like a car accident you can't look away from, a video of a black cat crossing the path in a Belgian bike race -- and getting run over by cyclist Ben Hermans -- has gone viral on YouTube. The video is Short, but if you love cats, you probably don't want to watch. Hermans couldn't swerve to avoid the cat, so he had no choice but to go right over it. Fortunately, none of the riders crashed.
The bizarre image of a bicycle riding over a cat has become big news in Belgium, with headlines like "Ben Hermans Rijdt Over Kat." So far I haven't been able to find any news on the condition of the cat.

It would be more accurate to say that he did not hit the cat, the cat got in his way. Hardly his fault, & what do you expect from a species of animal which roams wherever it wants. I have a cat & a dog and if they were run over I would be upset but if they were run over by a cyclist & the cyclist was hurt as a result I would be even more upset that a human was hurt. I love my pets but they are animals. Human's are more important.

Chances are his end was swift when the vet saw that his rear legs didnt work. Eek.
I've hit roadkill before, but never a living animal as yet.
