  • Because of fertilization.

  • Its probably an egg containing many cells. At the start the form a blastocyst and you can see the individual cells multiplying.

    The real question is; why did that start?

  • Perhaps you recognise that it is part of the sex process and society has taught you to feel naughty about sex.

    Given that if allowed to progress it would become living then it is said that it could be killed. Thats my answer.
