Unboxing Video No. 2: Gamesboro Package

This is an unboxing video where I feature a unit I pre-ordered more than two months ago for $45 (including shipping & handling) from a sega-16 and youtube member: Beastech. (Not to worry, the time lapse was only due to the unit still being under production. Beastech is a man of his word, and the unit was shipped the day they arrived. I received it within two days after that). He is owner of a Georgia-based, brick 'n mortar retro gaming store.

The unit I purchased is the RETROGEN PORTABLE, a very interesting clone of the Sega Genesis/Megadrive (NOT OF THE SEGA NOMAD). Although it is a handheld at heart, the differences between the Retrogen and the Nomad are quite vast, thus making both units unique and equaly desirable. The Retrogen Portable features emulation at its source, yet plays all Genesis/Megadrive games without region hindrance (including Japanese Megadrive games). You can still purchase the same unit from Beastech, though at a slightly higher price) if you visit his website: http://gamesboro.net/

One Big Shout Out to:

  • Hey does the retrogen has a sd card compatibility for playing roms?

  • No. Although a flashcart that uses an SD port and specifically designed for it is currently under development. At thsi time, existing flashcarts have failed with this machine, but it has been proven that some (if not all) should work perfectly with the GenMobile. Look up the Gen Mobile if you're interested, as the two entail similar emulation of the original hardware. =)

  • I got mine from gamesboro today, we bought from the same place at the same month (july), hahaha. I love it btw.

  • Awesome. Yeah, I love it as well. =)

  • That box was caved in. Reminds me of the beginning of Ace Ventura :) Glad it worked.

  • LMAO. I love that scene. I demand an Ace Ventura 3, darn it! =)
