  • I listen to this song and my heart weeps for the fact that we so easily forget where we are coming from. This kind of music reminds me that my life has never been easy and therefore I take pride in renditions like these that keeps me in the know that life is a continuous struggle and we must seek to embrace the path that took us here. My final thought, a beautiful and strong black woman with a beautiful voice. God Bless

  • @Johncenaluver1000 Thank you for those kind and heart felt words of love and encouragement.

    QUEEN LADY MAE

  • I am so glad you all love this video, there are more coming, keep enjoying this video

  • Beautiful voice...classic voice. This is the way the song was intended to be sung. People who are leaving negative comments probably haven't been exposed to this raw soul singing before. This is so fabulous. Truly gifted! :-)

I got it Mahalia Jackson is who you remind me of!!

  • @jewelz2k5 Thank you so much

  • I wish that people would stop embracing the word "diva." It means "impossible person." Of course, everyone chooses words, no one uses the dictionary to look up their definitions. Your voice is too fabulous. You don't need to be associated with the word. Her voice is haunting, lilting and stirring. She reminds me of Oleta Adams with a higher range.

  • @ladyg0726 thanks for your kind and real heart felt remarks, everbody does not acknowledge talent when they see it or they just get jealous and say rude things, but I, "Queen lady Mae" says to you God Bless You in every walk of your life.

  • And what I love is that you actually sing the song as it was sung in the 1840s.

The original was not sung like Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston. This is 100% soul, loving the blue notes like there's no shame. And the amazing thing is you still end in the same western key that you began in after owning every midtone pitch on the scale for five minutes.
