I fully agree with your comments. Alan has been nominated for a Grammy for the best instrumental jazz solo this year. The other nominees are Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, and Hank Jones. He may be relatively unknown, but he's hardly over-rated.
