This is a video I made of me out checking my rabbit snares. I was inspired to make this video and other videos, from a video I took of my father setting one last season. Check out my videos "Making a Rabbit Snare" and "Snaring Rabbits - How to set a Rabbit Snare", If you want to try it for yourself.

I hope you watch and enjoy them all. I know I did making, setting, snaring, taping, putting together video clips, and of course eating rabbits lol!

If you happen to make some and set them, let me know how you make out.

Always be respectful of land owners and get permission...Stay away from residential areas to avoid pets...Post your area to advise other hunters of your snares, and always respect the environment.

Never set snares until you kwow your local laws...You can do this by checking your local DNR...(Department of Natural Resources)

The background music I used in this video is "Thunderstruck" by one of my favorite bands "ACDC" Buy their music you won't be sorry.

Rabbit stew anyone? Maybe later I will do a rabbit recipe vid. There is more than one way to skin a rabbit. I am going to also make a "skinning a rabbit and field dressing a rabbit" vid once the season opens. Snaring rabbits is a great way to get out in nature and pass away the winter blues. • when the rabbit is still alive in your snare what is the most painless way to kill it? because i dont wanna cause them pain

  • @simengrs I usually carry with me a pellet gun...for the last several seasons, all were dead upon my arrival.

  • What size do you set the noose of the snares to?

  • @miguest66 refer to my " Making a Rabbit snare " video...

  • Hello!

I had some questions regarding this vid. 1. Do you check the traps once or twice a day and 2. whats the best time(s) to check and set traps? (I was watched the other vid on setting them, but I needed clarification).

Thanks for posting this, It will help me out a lot learning all the stuff my family didn't teach me because I was a girl. :P

  • @Juiroame I check them once daily usually mid morning...In mild climate or warm days might want to check twice a day, in sub zero should be ok to check them every other day but you run a higher risk of scavengers...

  • what did you use to edit your video?

  • hi im 14 and i want to start Snaring Rabbits what should i start doing and how to spot Rabbits

    tracks

  • @RCoutdoors49

guitar strings work awesome, or just any plain old wire from the hardware store.

  • @simengrs if you have a pocket knife take the tip of the blade and place it just between were the skull attaches to the spine and push down as hard as you can this severes the spine from the skull and is nearely painless

  • I dont know what you filmed this with but im guessing a piece of cheese?

  • i did this and i think a snake got the rabbit :/

  • Where did u get ur snare wire?

  • @Juiroame Your comment (questions) made me smile. My older brother snared rabbits when I was a kid, but of course, us girls didn't get to. This will be my first year of snaring - very thankful for Youtube and people like this that share their knowledge.
