Great sound from Danny Robinson's Holiday label. This is a 2nd pressing (it would actually be a 3rd if a black label existed for this release), but I've come to find that it's a very rare record. It was easier for me to find a glossy label first pressing of Don't Go by The Lovenotes (which did not sell well for Holiday) than I did finding this 2nd pressing of When I Woke Up This Morning.

  • Went digging through old boxes and found it! Actually this is Song One on Side Two...On Jubilee Records, it's a SUPERLAPHONIC HI-FI recording titled RUMBLE Bop-Chords vs. Channels vs. Continentals vs. Love-Notes with notes by Mort Goode. I also love the song The Closer You Are by The Channels which appears here as well.

  • That's a good find. Rumble's a great album

  • Time for some saturday morning doo wop!

  • Simple but awesome!!!!

  • This song was included on an album called "Rumble" that included other great Doo Wop groups of the time. I believe it was Song One on Side A. Gotta go search for it after hearing this truly classic song again! Thanks

  • A total of 800 doo wop songs in the ENTIRE genre? I have almost 800 vides up right now, with nearly 90% being doo wop. I have over 10,000 records, and about 4000 of them are doo wop. Go and buy yourself Ferdie Gonzales' Disco-File or The Encyclopedia Of Doo Wop... The Encyclopedia has over 80,000 DOO WOP titles, and it's far from complete. The next time you feel like being condescending, I suggest you know what you're talking about.

  • @PJDooWop are you crazy all the songs in the world are roughly 250,000

there are total of 800 dop wop songs excisting regional and everything

  • One of the true doo wop classics of all time even though no one back then called it that. It was just good old rock 'n' roll. What a great sound these guys had. Ernest Harriston was the lead on this and their other two records. What a voice!

  • @PJDooWop LA had a lot of groups that never made it out of SoCal. Their sound was more varied than the New Yorkers.
