the reason deerhoof is so good is because they are very intersting and fun to listen to and unique. they also show how music doesn't have restrictions and i hate how people say 'music is this' or 'music is supposed to be that' because it isn't and it can be anything. the point of music is to envoke emotion, that is art.

@BansheeBat You are totally right, Ive been trying hard to like Deerhoof for a while and now I finally do. Like you said, her voice is an acquired taste.

umm.. deerhoof isnt supposed to making fun of any genere of music and they arent a joke. they are amazingly talented and youre being foolish. they arent even indie, they are more jazz/spasticrock/experimental.

vanish, don't really care if they are serious or not..just like the music. That's what I dislike most about many people's take on music...a performer's cultural stance being more important than actual musicality. I especially hate it when people who are pitch deaf decide to like music because of the stinking lyrics...aaargh...just read poetry then! At the same time music is ultimately about culture and a sort of universal language. Anyhoo, I love deerhoof's satire if that's what it is.

You'd think that a handheld, home video with your cats would be a pretty terrible idea for a music video, but this actually works perfectly with this song. This is great.
