As lovely as the music is (and it's awesome), I'm always moved just about to tears by Bernstein bouncing up and down. He's so HAPPY to be conducting this one. :3

This is just simply epic. Love it!

I love this version; I bought the CD right after the "Wall" came down. I don't know about anyone else but I can feel the high emotions in the voices and music

Sorry, NachtCrus, my mistake. It's a lovely piece of music, beautifully played and I've become used to politicians taking something which belongs to everyone and twisting it for their own ends. I'm probably too cynical!

@PeaceinUK its not a misappropriation, bernstein was making a statement, this was for the berlin wall coming down.

I've never heard such a misappropriation of music since the European Union stole Beethoven's 9th for it's 'Anthen'..

Is the first chair cellist a young Yo Yo Ma?

Mmmm, it would be worth hearing.
nobody asked the poor guy if he can do all of the voices on the violin. :P Since posting this I've discovered any Furtwangler recording blows away any Bernstein recording.
