Bare Knuckle Boxer 5

The fifth and final part of a Channel 4 documentary covering the career of legendary black bare knuckle boxer, Bill Richmond; his nemesis, the rather scary Tom Cribb; and Richmond's ill-fated protege, Tom Molineaux. Look out for a brief cameo by Lord Byron too. Experts interviewed for the show include noted scholar and author David Dabydeen.

The documentary itself was produced by Juniper Films, and was first shown as part of C4's 'Georgian Underground' series on the 1st of May, 2003. It was shown again by C4 on the 11th of September, 2009.

This could be called the Bill Richmond story. And I don't think he was trying to thumb his nose at England or hated whites. I think he was just a sportsman and a competitor. And he didn't get a fair break when ran Molyneaux at Cribb. And the blowback from that was bare knuckle boxing never recovered from that robbery and british dominance faded away for good
