Better paraphrasing. Now, do you see the difference between that and your previous paraphrase ("it's all CNN's fault").
They simply repeated what they were told, and now they're saying they were no participant in the war effort, as if they have no effect on their viewers! They were cowards for not questioning, and are cowards for not recognizing it now. Sorry, but it's kinda obvious it's not "all their fault", but they sure threw oil on the fire.

Right, it's all CNN's fault. It couldn't have anything to do with say us being lied into a war for corporate profit, Bush firing the generals who disagreed with him, not sending in enough troops, and sending them in without proper equipment? Nah, couldn't be. It has to be CNN.
