I personally agree with people saying that Montreux is a Jazz festival, but Purple has - as everybody should know - a special relation to Montreux and therefore it is o.k. Apart from that it is strange to hear that B.B. King or Van Morrison are playing a Jazz Festival. This in fact is bullshit.

what does it matter what festival they played at? alot of bands that doesn't belong to a certain genre play in their festivals anyway and since this was a great performance nobody should mind :)

There is a lot of jazz in Deep Purple's playing. Montreux is just the right place for them.

I don't like Alice Cooper but Motörhead is good! Bands like Deep Purple and Motörhead should be in rock festivals, not in jazz festivals. =)
