Erhu Solo 空山鳥語 Birds in the Isolated Forest Mountains

A solo I learned recently. It's not the best video of course. A few minor errors. The song is called Birds in the Forest. It's a traditional erhu solo composed in the 1930's by Liu Tian Hua. The song is also based off a Tang Dynasty poem about entering these isolated forest and how bird songs filled the atmosphere. There are certain techniques that create certain tones to imitate these bird calls. Provide some feedback please. Haha. Thanks.

Do you know how much should i spend on a Erhu. your Erhu sounds pretty high quility :)

@coconut140 anything from $200-300 is actually pretty decently priced, especially if it's bought online. generally, picking out an instrument in china itself is the ideal way to buy an erhu. plus... bargaining there cuts back about $100 or so. this erhu was originally 3000 yuan, but i only got it for 2000. roughly 400-500 dollars at the time? it's a pretty nice quality instrument, the sound has developed a lot more; you can look at my newer videos to see the difference

really really depends. if you can find a teacher, then go for it. otherwise, being self taught will be quite difficult.

yeah, half of my hand actually touches the hair, and the right side is on the plastic. i recorded this song about 5 months after i learned it i think. and learned for 2 years at the time. and yes that is a pipa. thanks for the comment

I couldn't even tell of the errors.. I agree with ibbie "what are you talking about?!" this version is the only version I've heard, and my favorite already. You're amazing, makes me wanna save up for a Chinese violin and learn to play myself, just to be one with this beautiful song.
