Try putting a finger (maybe damp) on the resistors that may mess the sound around . DONT try to remove the 'black stuff'' from the ASIC you WILL bust it. And yes it looks like the ground is on the outside on the switches.

@myozone I tried putting my finger in some water and patting it dry a bit. That worked great! It felt really weird to get my finger wet and then touch electronics. :)
