@TheBocaScott actually its because he cannot concentrate with all the lights on him and he is more comfortable and focused in the shadows. that is what Tool's live video director said anyway.

Maynard believes the singer is not that talented and the fact he still has stage fright is why he stands in the back. When he played a show in Boca Raton, Fl with A Perfect Circle he was above the drummer with back to audience.

@Excludeinfinity they had metal detector wands at this show and they had a recording playing outside that said absolutely no cameras and the reason MJK and Tool in particular don't like cameras is because flashes are distracting and they believe its a disservice to the fans to watch a live video of them because no video can capture the full experience of a tool show, same reason why there's no official live tool dvd.

@cibobary8766 They don't check for small handheld cameras. They aren't there to ruin the fun. They take away the cameras with potetntial of producing sellable pictures. If you're there to photograph to sell pictures or in some other way make money of it you need to sign contracts. So I think you would be able to get in with a small camera anyway.

@FamVIDS2012 Maynard isn't meant to be the subject. He stands in the back so you aren't looking at just him. Look at the lights, the colours, the atmosphere. That is why you pay 100 bucks for a tool concert. Also the music :P
