@clearflower Based on the evidence, you're just coming off as a sore loser (ignore my username for a second, I'm trying to be objective. Honest)
Two problems.. if you watch Ball's runs, he's either in a play towards the most defenders or getting excellent blocks. Even if he caught signals, it didn't seem to matter. Plus, once the play develops to a certain point, it doesn't matter anyways.
As for Harmon, it seems like he was passing well enough. That poor halfback really screwed up though :/
This game convinced me the Rose Bowl was crooked. I remember watching it with my step-dad and going "isn't this a little weird?" Then I read in Hayden Fry's book that U.C.L.A. was picking off Iowa's defensive signals hence the "great" game by Eric Ball. Ronnie Harmon's performance was passing strange too.
@Jiltedin2007 Troy was a sophomore at Oklahoma that season. He was the starter, but broke his ankle against Miami in October and missed the remainder of the Sooners' National Championship season. Jamelle Holieway did well in enough in his place at QB that Troy feared he'd be reduced to second string, so he transferred to UCLA, sitting out 1986 and playing in 1987 and 1988 before moving on to the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys.
I think the audio is playing slower than the video in this clip.
Also, I think they didn't play the peacock used on the actual program, because the Rose Bowl is on New Year's Day, and the "Laramie" peacock didn't start until that fall.

@tamalie2 O.K., thanks for the info. So that explains why Matt Stevens was the UCLA Starting Quarterback in 1986.
