This is the first of Mahler's five Ruckert-Lieder, recorded at Avery Fisher Hall with Zubin Mehta and the New York Philharmonic. Performed at the opening of the 1989-90 season.

  • Does anybody remember when that concert took place? And has that video been or will be released on DVD?

She's never recorded those songs hasn't she (I mean on CD)?

I know she did Kindertotenlieder and Fahrenden Gesellen but I'm not aware about her recording the Rükerts.

I have an old recording of the Rückert I took on the radio when the CBC broadcasted a performance from Salzbourg or Vienna with Colin Davis (I guess???) That too was exquisite. Hope one day they will release all those tapes.

  • I believe this performance was broadcast on PBS channel 13 in 1989. I was fortunate enough to pop a tape in the VCR and capture it. I am not aware of any public release of this performance.
