After Pearl Harbour was struck, the Japanese swept across the Pacific. Thousands of Americans and Filipinos died on the Bataan Death March and prisoners were forced to labour for the Japanese, building the infamous Thai-Burma 'death' railway.

But the Allies struck back. 'Doolittle's Raiders' flew from an aircraft carrier to bomb Tokyo itself. The Battle of Midway halted Japanese naval expansion, while U.S. Marines on Guadalcanal learned to take no prisoners.

Australian forces defending their homeland against invasion turned back the Japanese in New Guinea - a brutal fight against desperate troops, some of whom turned to cannibalism.

  • amazing how only a few odd generals and people in high command got executed..but these soldiers in the lowest levels who committed such atrocities got to enjoy the economic miracles of japan through the 60s, 70s...

  • @RunningSwimmingMan No, it's not mentality you see all the time. There is other Japanese mentality, and the other one is that of humility. These Jap soldiers were brainwashed so far, that many still believe they did the right thing.

  • I'd love to meet that Japanese Guard, the one who says killing the men was justified because they thought they trying to escape... How Ludicrous...

REALLY...? You really thought they were actually trying to escape..? They could barely walk, much less make a break for it... And even if they did, Where would they go...? This is the same kind Japanese Mentality you see all the time... And believe it or not, they will tell you it never happened...

  • @BigRedNZ1 I think he still takes his job seriously, even though the war has been over for 66 years.

  • @BuffaloTPU Amazing, he still believes the propoganda... after all this time

  • the cruelty of war........ that sucks R.I.P.
