January 11, 1930 two men froze to death on the mountain above Jerome, Arizona. They are seen on film just hours before they died.

  • I just drove this road last Friday (3/4/11) in perfect weather. I cannot imagine driving this in snow. The stretch of SR 89A on Mingus Mountain is one of the most terrifying roads I have ever been on.

  • @lilypondlane

And they were up there in over two feet of snow... in the year 1930! Some tough people!

  • Was that Kid Ory on trombone?

  • No. It was the famous Professor Hall. We were very fortunate he was in a good mood and decided to allow us to videotape his performance. Thank you Professor Hall!

  • May they rest in peace

  • Thank you for the respect.

  • Excellent video. Wow, brought back memories of crossing from Prescott going home to Cottonwood. We wrecked on Mingus about 5 miles above Jerome one winter night.

  • Those two were not very bright now where there? What, did they think there would be less snow as they went up the mountain? They should have stayed home...

  • Wow, awesome story. I love history. Thanks for telling the story. 5/5 stars. May they rest in peace.
