Sahara Hotel and Casino closes Monday May 16, 2011. I got a chance to interview guests, an valet attendant, and a tattoo shop employee to share their thoughts with you about the closing. This legendary property opened up in 1952 and featured some of the best entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. The owners mentioned that it was no longer "economically viable" to operate given the economic recession.

thanks for this video....as a veteran of the Strip whose first visit was over 20 years ago it's hard to imagine the Sahara closing.

I've actually only been to the Sahara once, a few years ago, to check out the buffet since we heard it was the cheapest buffet on the strip.
