A superb ensemble falls in for Stanley Kubrick's brilliant saga about the Vietnam War and the dehumanization process that turns people into trained killers.
I really understand Leonard: had I been him, I too would have found it difficult not to laugh at Hartman. In fact, I think I would have made fun of him all the time. The man is grotesque and almost everything he says is stupid and he looks totally demented. I would take no offense from a guy like that because he's a total clown.. But the whole scene is perfect! Ermey should have won an Oscar for it, Jesus H. Christ!
oooh raaah! brings back memories. So true. I was married to my M-16 in training for a week straight, went everywhere with it. Slept with it, and when platoon came in from the muddy field-showered with our M-16s to clean them.
