Overcome Homelessness Define Your Dream (2007). This is a television program about how we are overcoming homelessness and discovering the American Dream. The program contains real live interviews of homeless people and special footage that tells a unique story about how people feel about homelessness in Santa Cruz, CA. Feel free to visit my web site at http://www.geocities.com/cooper77z to learn more. The homeless experience will be described as a loss of one perception of the American Dream. The need for a transformation and a redefinition of the American Dream will be expanded upon. Many times we go through life without caring about how a person ended up homeless, or how they lost sight of their vision of the American Dream. People are beat down by relationships and we lose sight of the dreams that we once had for ourselves. The status quo of contemporary American thought influences our paradigm. We make judgements about people and many times those of us in the transformation process are further injured. To one peorson the American Dream may be sailing out on the ocean or living in a beach house, surfing the best waves at the best times. Another may have a drive to invent something excellent like the phone or the automobile. Every homeless person had a dream at one time, but they lost sight of it. Even the middle class lose sight of their dream. The loss and seperation of loved ones through divorce and is more than many of us can handle, and we can't 'just pick ourselves up by our bootstraps'. We need others at the moment when others are most likely to give up on us. I wanted to expand on the idea of defining the "human dream" because freedom, joy, happiness, love and space to live, clean air, water, and sunshine, peaceful non-fear-inducing environments are something that humanity is entitled to equally rather than some countries at the expense of other countries. I wanted to describle how individuals are robbed of their natural resources and how other countries are being exploited. I wanted to focus on rehabilitation for damaged people, those who have resorted to poor coping mechanisms and deviant behavior as a means for fulfilling their needs. I would like to explain how it is unfair to control all the land and natural resources in the nation to the point that capable people are forced to live a neglected animals in a unhumanely run animal shelter. These homeless people have had a great deal stolen from them. They learned to steal and harm because they were treated so from birth and further harmed by the system. Many are mentally disabled and are unable to even think clearly anymore. They are indigent, but they are sick too. The system will not spend the funds necesarry to rehabilitate them. I want to show the devistating impact that an instance of homelessness has on an individual and his/her family. I want to inspire the homeless to fulfill the American Dream in their own lives and I want to inspire middle class Americans to inspire the American Dream in their own lives as well. I want to doccument how people are fulfilling their American Dream to teach others the way. I want to show a day in the life of a homeless person to show how homelessness actually becaomes a full time job in and of itself. I wanted to show some humorous aspects of a day in the life of a homeless person, the signs and the hustles. I wanted to show how the opression of homelessness is a manifestation of an attribute of oppression and to explore the commonalities between homelessness and other opressed social groups such as minorities, slaves, the working class. I wanted to explore the ecology of the human animal. I want to inspire confidence in the American Dream and show that it is still possible to acheive through my own success at overcoming homelessness and business success. • Great video on issues that are very sensitive subjects in this day and age. the folks that are homeless are not dumb bums. A lot of them have degrees and are professionals who have fallen on hard times. Circumstances are different but the goal is the same. Survival.Life. By the grace of god this will improve.

  • @paranrm - thank you for your excellent comments!

  • This is a wonderful channel!! I can relate to the issue of homeless. My good friend Jesse is currently homeless. He is a poet. This is actually his account I am on right now and I have taken control of it to rally support for him while he is out there. We have shot videos to document his experiences. I am sick to my stomach everyday with worry for him and am terrified he will not make it through the soon approaching harsh Canadian winter. Please people never look down on a homeless person

  • @CreepyHermitPoet - thank you for your comments -- regards...

  • I cannot believe the homeless get camping tickets!!! Thats INSANE ticketed for being homeless! How oppressive, and injust is this?

  • Hey hey, how many shelters could have been built and well funded with all that bail-out money and bonuses??? How about the $450,000 AIG party that was thrown right after us getting fleeced. That money would've done alot of good at a shelter ...

  • I WOULD RATHER BE POOR WITHOUT HELP THEN RICH WITH HELP

  • i agree what he says about the shelters they are dirty and violent i used to work in one

  • One way we could help the homeless is take many of the foreclosed homes and fix them up for the homeless families living in shelters... Our Country needs to wake up.. Our Policymakers need to listen to the poor instead of the rich...

  • hahahahahaha

  • Nickster seems like a brat. Gees I hate my NORMAL job too. But if I dont do it I have no home. I have depression anxiety and ptsd. All he does is make excuses about being a alcholic and not wanting a normal job cause of child support. Grow up. I would love to be a producer to but cant. To me it seems like he just is a deadbeat dad his wife probably kicked him out for drinking to much and domestic problems. I'm sure us NORMAL workers have to pay his support each month. He is his own problem.
