  • This is a fantastic video! I learned drypoint etching on acrylic in hs, and wanted a little review of the technique (I haven't really experimented with it since I learned it due to lack of materials). This is almost exactly how I learned it! I like your method of applying the ink much better than the way I was taught--we would use the roller directly onto the plate, and it would take forever to rub the excess ink off.

If I may ask, what did you use to cover the knob you used to apply the ink?

  • giggle...an old wax seal maker... it had a perfect round handle that fit :-)

  • Adopt me! I can live in a corner in your studio, please!!!

I am ready to kick off a lino cutting marathon! Haven't tried it before but your video definitely inspired me! I'm just looking for some inspiration for a stamp... without it being too complicated! :o)

That reminds me - what is the red plastic... semi-circle... yokey-doke thing at 1:27. It's underneath the shelf that you have the water bath. I seen it at the art store and couldn't figure it out... but I know it's for lino! LOL!

  • giggle ..ireland is not that far away ...hop on over :-)) to play with me ...

the red thingie is a cutting guard.... especially used for children cutting lino ..you put the lino in the corner and cut against it ..protecrs the hands from getting accidentally cut ...

re what to carve ...hop on over to our womens art community ..we are having a carving session :-)

  • Great job and smart thinking on your experiment. Turned out lovely. Art is not about what is right or wrong..its about what feels right. Thank you. Theresa : )

  • I dont believe there is such thing as right or wrong... as far as I see it it alwyas lies in the eye of the beholder... i love playing, experimenting and journeying with it ...thanks for commenting, glad you like it

  • FYI, To apply the ink, I was taught to make a dolly from a piece of rag that you roll-up on itself and tie with a string – The dolly is soft, which does a really good job getting the ink inside the scuff – Using a hard tool such as a knob like she did in the video could flatten the burr, which is something that you don’t want to do in drypoint. The burr being the ridges of copper (or in this case, plastic) that form at the edge of the incisions and that act as a reservoir that holds the ink.

  • Cool idea! I thought I could use the sizzix clear cutting mats (a new one or even an old one for cool backgrounds) and then run it through my sizzix with the rubber mats to get the impression... I think I'll try it with an old mat to see what it does, if it works then I'll start etching into a new one. I have two new sets waiting in my room! lol. Thank you for this video. I'm subbing right now! :) Have a blessed day!

  • wow your art is unbelivable you inspire me so much thank you!!!!!!

  • Wonderful print and I would guess that when you have used it as much as you want, you can frame the etched Perspex. Fabulous results all round!

  • That was very coolsome indeed. Nice print! Wow.
