29 July 2011 - House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner has made a passionate speech calling for Congress to approve a Republican bill on US debt.

Ahead of the vote - which saw the bill pass by 218-210 - Mr Boehner said he had tried to reach a deal by offering ideas but claimed all the administration had done was ''criticise what I put out there''.

He said it was time for the Obama administration to put a deal on the table.

  • He stuck his neck a mile, lol his neck looks normal to me. Must be in his head

  • stuck your neck out a mile? You fought for the top 2% the whole time. I wonder where your campaign contributions came from... oh, and what does the word "gerrymandering" mean? Oh wait, don't answer it, I remember your picture was there in the dictionary next to the word.

  • Boehner caved and is working with Obama...should probably be replaced when the truth comes out. The crisis is only beginning and these politicians have done NOTHING to fix the problem here.

  • @jcamp20 Barack could learn a few things from him...Clearly stating his case, and making a plan, AND sticking his neck out makes Boehner a man of character and a leader. But we should have known Barack would be a slacker...he voted 'present' for his entire time in the Senate...and he 'assigned' Pelosi' & Reid the job of being president while he played Bball, Golf...and partied.

  • When he restated the comment, he had so much conviction of self belief, that his sound bite has carved a niche in the archives of historical rebuttal.
