Is God a Delusion? The Debate That Never Was: William Lane Craig vs Richard Dawkins?

http://reasonablefaith.org - Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford (October 25, 2011) Richard Dawkins was invited by the Oxford student Christian Union to defend his book The God Delusion in public debate with William Lane Craig. The invitation remained open until the last minute. However, Dawkins refused the challenge and his chair remained empty. Craig then gave a lecture to a capacity audience on the weaknesses of the central arguments of the book and responded to a panel of academics. The event, which was chaired by atheist Prof. Peter Millican, was part of The Reasonable Faith Tour 2011 sponsored by UCCF, Damaris & Premier Christian Radio.

@arseymcpherson The invitation was genuine. People really did want to see Dawkins debate Craig. But Dawkins didn't show up. Whose fault is that? It's not Craig's. If Dawkins had slam dunk argument to show how irratiional Christianity is he should have shown up. Anyway, I hope you can bring it to yourself to admit that Craig never said he won a debate because a coward didn't show up.

Whats the point of the empty chair for Dawkins. Had he cancelled at the last minute, or did they set that chair there knowing full well that Dawkins had never agreed to show up.

"objective moral values" is just another word for ethics, and there's no logical reason to assume that they have to come from God. Animals exhibit both "moral" and "immoral" behaviour, and we're exactly the same. If god were giving his people such sound morals, why do people "devoted" to the faith such as pastors and priests do such horrible things? ANd why are al my friends (99% atheists) such good people? The Golden Rule pre-dates Christianity. I don't like hurting people and or being hurt...

@johnspartan98 the problem with God and objective moral values is that if God is a personal being then ´objective values´ would not be objective at all. For God is a person and his values are therefore subjective.
